Double Sens

The Project

In 2013, Aggeloskoni Da.Co in collaboration with the DK-Bel dance company from France, hosted the project “Dali D’KLIC” which took place in Athens in 2012.

The continuation of this collaboration is “Double Sens” where the french delegation, DK-BEL took over the management of the realization of the project in the French territory.

The “Double Sens” project was an artistic meeting of young Europeans (Hungarian, French and Greek). The theme of this meeting is about promotion “between us” that seeks to overcome any difficulties from disability, a deprived urban environment or a crisis situation. Each group consisted of both youths with disabilities and able-bodied young people.

The main theme of the project “Double Sens” was to enable young people through artistic creation and overcome imaginary borders of divisions and prejudices, in order to achieve a dialogue without discrimination between European citizens

The course consisted of a series of art workshops (dance, theatre, music, clowns, writing workshops, and plastic)

The method used consisted of the intersection of artistic and pedagogical approaches of each stakeholder and choreographer. The common basic workshop introduced the participants to different creative processes, while directing them through a process of specific guidelines (space, time, energy) to create solo creations which served to the total group composition. Given the nature of the young participants, the methods were adaptable to the needs of each individual’s potential. This guided them to find their own ways of expression, let them to externalize their emotions and allowed them to recreate in an artistic language so that they could obtain a collective work.

The project objectives were based on the European spirit and desire to offer young people the opportunity to become aware of the differences, but also to realize similarities between themselves.

The aim was to enable young participants to learn from each other and adapt in an artistic residency by developing their skills of collaboration and openness, regardless of their social and cultural background and also their artistic discipline . It was also promoting youth creativity and self-employment as well as integration; all within a work-group.

At the same time, the goal of these meetings was to learn how to communicate the artistic work by verbalizing of artistic experience through the exchange and public speaking.

The main theme of the project “Double Sens” was to enable young people through artistic creation and overcome imaginary borders of divisions and prejudices, in order to achieve a dialogue without discrimination between European citizens.

This theme stems from the needs of young people to get out of isolation, often due to a physical or socio-cultural situation and the need to participate actively in society. This is to provide the project‘s participants a platform of communication for themselves and to open up to the world and people around us through encounters with other young people, by sharing and implementing ideas.

Working methods:

The working methodology was mainly based on the experience of trade and the principle of one common artistic theme.
